Are you using XFire but it doesn’t count your playing time and the ingame feature not working as well? Aion is currently on the nyerking top 15 btw!!
I’ve got a simple solution for ya!
- (skip this part if folders are unhidden already) We must first “unhide” the hidden folders on your computer, since the file you must edit is in a hidden XFire folder. To do so, click on the windows icon on the left corner and type in “folder options” and confirm this with ENTER.

- (skip this part if folders are unhidden already) A new window will appear. Open the ”View“ tab and check ”Show hidden files, folders and archives” and confirm the changes with a lovely “OK“.
- Since the folders are now visible, go to “C:/ProgramData/XFire” and open “xfire_games.ini“.
- Now search for “aion” by pressing CTRL+F
- You should now see these lines: Click
- Replace them with: Click
- Save xfire_games.ini and XFire should now automically detect the game. (Make sure the options are set to “Automically Detect” in XFire Options>Games>Aion.
We’re done, if it worked for you, please share it (Retweet, etc)!
Special thanks to zilvermoon from the XFire forums for modifying it!

Works for me. Thx.
But… shouldnt it show Aion instead of Aion Beta? Just a thought…
21. September 2009 at 7:03 pm
@Santonia
I’m glad it works for you!
Yeah, you’re right, but it’s just a temporal fix. A official fix from the XFire devs will be released soon. You can of course simple rename it in xfire_games.ini :P

Your links to paste.lisp.org are showing no text/blank pages for me.. both in xfire and IE.
22. September 2009 at 4:29 am
Aww, looks like paste.lisp.org has some issues right now. Try again later. I have no time to edit it. (have to go to work in 10 minutes) :/
22. September 2009 at 12:52 pm
Checked again this morning, still no luck! :(
22. September 2009 at 2:10 pm
I just got back from work and updated the links. Should be working now! :D

Workage, thanks a bunch.

Nice fix!
It's annoying to constantly have to alter stuff to get Xfire to work with Aion. It's the only (well, one of the very very few, like Quake Live) game that does not work properly with Xfire even though it is officially 'supported'.
Had to keep posting in NCSoftLauncher files in the Aion game directory to get it to register in beta. Now not even that was working anymore :o
I'd really like to finally get into my server though. [ENG]Perento (EU) is at over 9 hours of queue right now. Once again, I'm not going to get to play today…
(I know, should switch to one of the servers with mere 2-3 hour queues, but none of my friends are there)
22. September 2009 at 5:09 pm
Yeah, it's pretty annoying, but since Aion has now been released, the XFire devs should release a proper xfire_games.ini soon.
I myself am in a queue right now on Spatalos[EU]. 2 hours to go. I wonder if I will get to play today. xD

My lines looked nothing like that, and I have 3 Aion's, instead of 2. Also, they were named Aion and not Aion Beta (EU) and Aion Beta (US). My friend booted up his Xfire and instantly got his working, but mine keeps requesting for C:Program FilesNCSoftAionNCLauncher.exe – When I put NCLauncher.exe in the folder, Xfire detects Aion in my game list, but does not show I'm playing it. I'm pretty stumped at this point.
22. September 2009 at 8:12 pm
Just replace the 3 Aions with the 2, I posted. Make a backup before this, if you're afraid of messing everything up.
22. September 2009 at 10:00 pm
Yeah I'm not sure. I guess I need to reinstall Aion completely through the Launcher.. I've tried just about everything! Not only that, but I've even reinstalled the Launcher so it would re-do the registry. No luck =/

Hi, I've been using this fix for quite a while now and I'm loving it! You truly are a genius :P. However, I got one little problem, whenever I restart xfire (for instance when I reboot my PC) the fix will be gone and I need to paste it into xfire_games.ini again, any reason why and is there maybe a way to stop this from happening? Thanks ^^
26. September 2009 at 8:14 am
That's probably because Xfire downloaded a game update when you restarted. There have been a few recently, and every time a game update is downloaded your xfire_games.ini is updated. Which means that Xfire's default Aion code returns and yours is erased.
We should petition Xfire to use proper Aion detection code or something. Otherwise we'll need to copy & paste it like 2 times per week…
26. September 2009 at 10:40 am
There's a simple way to avoid this. Just create a "dev_games.ini" file in the same folder where your "xfire_games.ini" is located. Once it's create, copy the Aion lines into this file, restart XFire and it should now work properly.
NOTE: Delete dev_games.ini(or only the lines inside it) once XFire released a official fix for this.

Ok, thanks a lot
8. October 2009 at 12:18 am
Seems that this new patch is not letting it work anymore.
8. October 2009 at 4:29 am
It still works fine for me. Try to reboot your computer, check if XFire has overwritten the lines.
8. October 2009 at 5:11 am
I had to change Make sure the changes were the same then reboot. After i rebooted I tried to see if it would work it didn't. So I checked Xfire again and it changed it back again. So I changed it back to make it work. Booted Aion it didn't work again. I was like grrrrr then i restarted Xfire and it worked. omg O.O
8. October 2009 at 5:12 am
Anything I say this late at night won't make sense. As you can see from the last post. I got it working, nuff said.
8. October 2009 at 2:14 pm
Hehe. I'm glad it works for you! :D
25. October 2009 at 12:51 pm
Didnt work for me, xfire cant find Aion installed, manual finding is bugged because xfire want 2 files in different folders lol in Launcher and Aion game folder
25. October 2009 at 1:11 pm
Are you sure, you pasted this one? http://paste-it.net/public/x291a4d/
25. October 2009 at 2:12 pm
yep im sure, but its possible xfire cant detect Aion because its not installed in my system, only NCsoft Launcher in Program Files.
You should write here how to detect manual Aion which is not installed.
25. October 2009 at 2:25 pm
Oh, I see. To detect it manually, you must change the following lines:
LauncherDirTruncAt=NCLauncher.exe –> LauncherDirTruncAt=\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe
LauncherExe=NCLauncher.exe –> LauncherExe=\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe
DetectExe=bin32\AION.bin –> DetectExe=\Aion\bin32\AION.bin
The directory locations may be a little bit different for you, just change them accordingly.
When detecting Aion manually, select the c:\program files\ncsoft
25. October 2009 at 4:39 pm
Xfire still says that cannot found
C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Launcher\PlayNCLauncher.exe
C:\Program Files\NCSoft\Launcher\bin32\AION.bin
thats bug because Aion.bin is in AION folder, not Launcher.
I have Launcher at C:/ and AION at D:/
25. October 2009 at 4:44 pm
I can’t help you any further then. Install your game properly and it should work without any problems.
