Today, 22nd October 09, NCSoft released a new patch version 1.5.0.11. A patch that is supposed to solve the Kinah spamming problem, ehm reduce. Also includes some non-interesting updates for quests, items, etc. The server was down for few hours. While the no lifers with no job and stuff QQ’ed on the forums during the downtime, I was expanding my brain at the school, btw. :)
Less Kinah spam?!
Oh yes, thanks to the following updates:
- The minimum level required to join the global channels is now 10 and was 5 before.
- You must be at least level 10 in order to whisper players. Receiving whispers still works.
- To send a mail to another players, minimum level 10 is required. You are able to receive mails, though. Also there’s now a limit how many mails you can send per hour. No numbers were stated.
- The “who” feature in which you can search for players is from now on no longer accessible for players below level 10.
My dear Kinah spammers, have fun leveling to level 10 just to spam your shit, suckers. Is it even worth it? Go back to WoW, the business here for you is done.
It’s a 2 in 1 fix
Since players below level 10 (a.k.a. total noobs) can no longer use the global channels, the chat channels will be more free from dumb questions like: “How do I loot items”, “Where is NPC XY?”, “Can I haz’ itams, plx?”, “Gif Kinah plz” and more annoying stuff like this.
Of course this also may be harsh for the non-annoying low level players, especially when they want to talk to their friends. But this is very good sacrifice.
I think Aion has become a little more hardcore. This is the way to go, NCSoft!

Legion’s personal opinion on the 10 mail per hour. Other than that the rest seems to be in fine order. 10 mail per hour sucks though due to lack of multi-item attachment on mail :/

10 mails only?! :O
That’s lame. Reeally lame.

Pretty much it is, it’s really restricting us considering we send e-mail to our legion members every day about new updates and that.

Oooh, I have another one! They could ban everyone whose character’s name is unpronounceable. Sffgh: dead. Fssfh: dead. Xkakashisenpaix: dead. Kills noobs too!
Shuuure, they could mail support and ask for their account to be re-enabled, but support would send back a neat little official template mail stating that your character’s name sucks and so the Aion Aesthetics Committee will hold your account hostage until you amend the situation.
Or what if they instantly banned someone for a week if they get blocked by more than 5 people within a 1 minute period?
The process of levelling to 10 is so damned slow that the spammers wouldn’t bother if all they get for it is one yell in Pan. Wouldn’t solve the mail problem though, for that they need…
*exaggerated drum roll*
CAPTCHA!
See, the problem has either been solved elsewhere or I solved it just now. NCsoft, stop being stupid and appoint me CEO already. Oh yeah and set loot distribution to “CEO”.
