Mortal Online: Fail of the Decade!

Games, MMOs, Mortal Online

Mortal Online is a “wannabe sandbox” MMORPG, developed by Star Vault, an swedish independent game developer company. This game has been actively in development since year 2005 and release is supposed to this month.

Why fail?

Star Vault claims that this game is in the closed beta phase at the time, but in my opinion it’s still in early pre-alpha stages. Nearly nothing works in this game. Actually I really don’t mind about this. Since it’s in beta, stuff still can be fixed before the actual release.

The real issue is: They seriously want to release this broken game in January 2010 with full retail and subscription price. When I first heard about it, I thought it was just a very bad joke, unfortunately it wasn’t. Release in January was confirmed by the devs and is now official.

Out of funds?

This is probably the reason for the early release. They got no more money to delay the release date even further. I fully understand this, but is it alright? Releasing a completely broken MMORPG with full retail price? I in my whole life never played such a incomplete game, what will happen? New players will just ragequit, one after another. This will result in horrible reviews and cause heavy damage to the games reputation which will be extremely hard to recover.

Let me use Darkfall as comparison. I’m sure pretty many were disappointed about the Darkfall release, but MO is much worse, trust me. Once Darkfall was release, we could play it with some minor problems, but MO is at the time totally unplayable. PvE is messed up, bugs and glitches EVERYWHERE, combat is system is a joke.

The game feels at the time like it was developed by some high-school programming amateurs, seriously.

Some proof

If you don’t believe me in what horrible state this game is currently in, check some of the following videos:

These 2 are just little examples. Just search for more and you’ll find many more truths about the current state of this game. But avoid the ones made by developers or fanboys, they’re most likely fake and don’t show everything.

SO WOULD YOU PAY 50€ FOR THIS GAME?!

You like anime, which is just sad. Also, you are the worst troll ever. You fail in every sense. I don’t know if your a DF lover or just a MO hater but please don’t link this to the official forums. It makes it all to obvious that your a troll.
You criticism is null. You do not say what is broken but simply say “You think Darkfall was bad? Well MO is gonna BURN!”. Yeah, well. Maybe your a little bit “special”, i don’t know but you come across as a idiot.

    Peace and love.

Coming from someone who clearly has a fixation on Aion and other such pieces of garbage, you’re opinion really has little value, why don’t you join the club with this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vSjbXVKteo who turned out to be wrong aswell when the game got delayed.

If the game was actually released in this state then yeah, it’d be bad, but it’s not and no matter what the current “release date” is it may aswell be further delayed. Hold of on your unhidden biased opinions until then eh?

I am just curious. What exactly is your goal. I mean if u are so sure this game sucks ok, don´t buy it! But what do u win when u do such a Hateblog. U´re saying everything that people see make MO look good is fake and from Fanboys. So what is your Blog? Are u objektive? Your are basically showing two bugs out of Beta in your videos. So what? Everything else is still to proove or u are nothing less than just a hater and shouldn´t be taken any serious.

    GL with another game.

Man I don’t know why people make stuff like this. Of course the game has bugs and it will be a rocky start, but are the devs going to stop production and leave it as is after release? NO! Chill your shit. You’re not the first to make your opinion on this topic and you won’t be the last, but I do know they all mean nothing because only the devs know where they are specifically. If they release the game and leave it broken and stop development I will let you rape me in the ass.

I find it so sad how they all troll your post when this game is utter garbage, and no Darkfall was shit too but this is also shit, one game does not glorify another, the game features are buggy, there are memory leaks abound and the crafting and housing systems are so poorly done it brings a fucking shame to the possibility of sandbox MMOs

All trolling aside… the launcher doesn’t even work half the time. If you check the forums, it’s a known problem for about 50% of Vista users.

I’m SO GLAD I spent 4 hours downloading and patching an Open Beta only to discover that I can only play about 1 in 10 times. No thanks, StarVault.

Having played in many Closed Beta tests (Matrix Online, WarHammer, World of Warcraft, DarkFall, Chronicles of Spellborn, Allods Online) this is, without a doubt, AN ALPHA. Seriously! The game world is 99% void of NPCs and half of the features aren’t available yet due to “polishing.”

If StarVault had internal testers, or even a decent PR department, there is no way they would allow a “Beta” of this quality to hit the user market.
