Yesterday I talked about that I’m gonna try out Champions Online, since everyone can play this weekend for free. I used this chance today and got into the game. Well, my first impression was actually pretty good, until I got into the game with my newly created character. The character customization is really awesome. You can change everything. Add cool accessories, colour them, etc. I really enjoyed it.

Once I into the game with my character, I looked around, played with the control settings, fought some mobs, completed few quests, logged out, uninstalled CO. :(

Why?

It really doesn’t feel good, playing this game. It was more annoying than enjoying. Let me describe my first impression in a little review.

Controls

The controls are really nice in CO. You can change between many options, like FPS, normal MMOs, action, etc. I personally prefer the FPS one. A crosshair will appear in middle of your screen. To use skill you simply have to target a mob and left/right click or pressing the hotkeys.

However, the movements for me were really weird. While moving, the legs of my sexy character were shaking pretty hard, especially while turning. Issue on my end? I don’t know, but I don’t want to play like this. Game was running at 100+ FPS all the time, so not the game was not lagging or something.

Graphics

Graphics in CO are actually pretty nice. The starting city is really well drawn and mobs look fine. However, it’s a way too colourful. Maybe my eyes are too sensible, but I can’t play like this for a longer time. The thick lines around the characters and objects can be disabled, though. It looks better like this, but still not enough.

I’m not a superhero fan after all

Nor I ever was one. Maybe that’s the reason why I don’t like this game? Or am I too much fantasy MMORPG tainted? I don’t know. One think is sure, I won’t touch this MMORPG anymore.

I bought Borderlands today and am going to play this for a while. Someone else got it? Feel free to add me as your friend and let’s hunt down some psychos together! :D
